As part of the cities continuing effort to improve pedestrian and bicycle safety, NYPD officers will be participating in the Enforcement for Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Course.  Expert consultant and former law enforcement officer, Peter Flucke, President of WE BIKE, etc., will be providing officers with the pedestrian and bicycle safety information they need to manage traffic and provide a safe and enjoyable walking and bicycling environment in the city.

Flucke said “The cities Vision Zero is a great initiative and enforcement is a key component of its success, this training will definitely help the city to move towards meeting their goals.”   The two day course to be held on March 19th and 20th at the Old Police Academy, 235 East 20th Street will focus on; The Highway Safety Triangle, Engineering, How Pedestrian and Bicyclist Crashes Happen,  Education, Pedestrian and Bicycle Laws, Enforcement, Pedestrian Safety, Cross Walk Enforcement Operations, Crash Investigation and Reporting and Law Enforcement Partners.

This training will allow the officers from each borough to take what they learn back to their precincts to implement.
