WE BIKE, etc

Peter Flucke is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Recreation and Forestry and a minor in Environmental Law Enforcement.

Mr. Flucke was a law enforcement officer in the state of Minnesota for six years. He spent five years as a park ranger with Hennepin Parks (now the Three Rivers Park District), one of the largest metropolitan park systems in the country. While at Hennepin Parks, Mr. Flucke created one of the first police bicycle patrols in the state.

Mr. Flucke has a wealth of experience and knowledge in the pedestrian and bicycle fields. He has created and taught pedestrian and bicycle safety and education courses for adults, children, law enforcement officers, judges, attorneys, planners, engineers and maintenance personnel. He has developed community pedestrian/bicycle plans, written resource guides, trained police bike patrols, directed special events, lead bicycle tours and consulted on a wide variety of related topics. He is a well respected presenter and an invaluable resource.

Currently, Mr. Flucke is working on the following projects in the state of Wisconsin: Pedestrian & Bicycle Plan, Village of Ashwaubenon, Stoughton Road (Bus. 51) Corridor Study-Bicycle Facilities Alternatives, Madison, and the Bicycle Transportation Map, Brown County’s first. He is also working on the Sheboygan County Non-Motorized Transportation Pilot Program (NMTPP). The NMTPP is a five year, $25 million, federally funded program to improve conditions for pedestrians and bicyclists and to achieve a mode shift away from motor vehicles. Mr. Flucke helped create a comprehensive pedestrian and bicycle plan for the county and provided technical expertise to the project. Specifically, he performed pedestrian and bicycle crash analysis and worked with the Safe Routes To School, Health and Safety and Technical Subcommittees. Presently, he is focusing on comprehensive pedestrian and bicycle safety law enforcement training. Additional law enforcement training projects include work with the New Orleans, Louisiana, Regional Planning Commission and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) as part of the New Orleans Regional Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Program and WisDOT’s continuing efforts. Mr. Flucke continues to provide various expert witness services.

Mr. Flucke serves the Wisconsin Governor’s Coordinating Bicycle Council and the Ashwaubenon Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Committee.  He served on the Board of Directors of the Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin for 10 years.

Mr. Flucke is a certified League Cycling Instructor/Trainer for the League of American Bicyclists and a Police Cyclist certified by the International Police Mountain Bike Association. He is also trained as a facilitator for the nationally recognized Walkable Communities and Bicycle-Friendly Communities Workshops.
